Jodie Kidd, an English fashion model, race car driver, and television personality star voluntarily gets electrocuted wearing a Faraday suit for the 1 million volts of power to safely move across her body. The energy then moved through her fingertips causing electrical bolts to become visible. This controlled stunt was created to promote Kia’s newest all-electric SUV; Kia EV9.
After the stunt was complete, Kidd mentioned, “Being electrocuted was one of the most petrifying things I’ve ever done – but also such an amazing experience. Not many people can say they have had a million volts through their body and been able to shoot lightning with their fingers!”
The all-new, all-electric, family-friendly Kia EV9 is expected to be available for purchase in Q3 2023. The 2024 EV9 was recently showcased at the New York International Auto Show exhibiting the 300 estimated range on the Wind+ RWD trim with 10%-80% charge with the DC fast charger in as little as 24 minutes. The hype around this three-row electric SUV is that it will be Kia’s first electric vehicle to be built in the United States. Under this circumstance, the EV9 will qualify for US federal tax credits, although it remains unclear whether it will be eligible for the full $7,500 incentive.
Regardless of whether you drive this rear- and all-wheel-drive electric SUV throughout urban landscapes or to rural destinations, the all-electric motor offers a powerful driving experience. With 5,000 lbs of towing capabilities, you can haul a camper or boat for a thrilling weekend adventure. It has been built to confidently embrace the road ahead with an all-wheel drive upgrade and high ground clearance. The design has been thoroughly executed to free your spirit the moment you sit inside. With advanced technology, three rows of spaciousness, seating up to 7, and ample cargo space, this will keep everyone captivated, connected, and in control. According to Kia, “The EV9 sets a new standard in the world of all-electric vehicles combining innovative style with impressive fast-charging capabilities so you can get more from the drive.”
The EV9 is a new stakeholder for Kia as the company plans to have 11 new electric vehicles for sale by 2026. With over 41,000 charging stations across the United States, and more to come, there is always an opportunity to charge the SUV mid-excursion. In addition, a heat pump has been built into the design of this SUV to ensure the preservation of the all-electric range in cold weather driving conditions. Kia’s industry-leading 10-year or 100,000-mile limited warranty includes the EV9 battery. The Kia EV9 doesn’t get any better than this!
