Mission Viejo Kia would like to introduce you to Alex Chung, the dealership’s General Manager! Alex has been working in the auto industry for the past 23 years and has worked as the GM for 3 of those. Alex is extremely educated and knowledgeable, making him an excellent GM to help guide the MV dealership team and Kia community!
Alex grew up in Seoul, which is the country’s capital and the largest metropolis of South Korea. Then he made the move across the world to the United States landing him in Morgan Hills, California. He moved to the US to attend college in Santa Barbara. Talk about a city boy with a country heart and the spirit of a pioneer. Alex is not afraid to try new things which makes him a fantastic GM. He absolutely loves living in Irvine and appreciates how many cultures are represented from all over the world!
We asked Alex what the toughest part of his job was. He quickly answered that the introduction of a worldwide pandemic whilst running a business has been the most challenging but rewarding opportunity. Experiencing a limited number of team members to carry out day-to-day operations was so hard, yet this struggle brought the greater team closer together. It allowed team members to step up to the plate, wear many hats, and absolutely shine through!
When Alex isn’t working at the dealership, he enjoys going on a beautiful morning hike followed by watching Tottenham and all the local sports teams depending on the season: LA Rams, LA Lakers, and LA Angels!
Here are a few of Alex’s favorite restaurants that you cannot miss the next time you are in the area:
- The welcoming, intimate and festive atmosphere makes Koko Sushi Bar & Lounge one of Alex’s top favorites. Paired with a fun and modern interior with an outdoor patio for the complete dining experience. For non-sushi lovers, there is an alternative menu ensuring that your experience is a great one.
- The creation of Calo Kitchen & Tequila was inspired by Clemente’s never-ending passion for fantastic food and service. His passion developed in creating a restaurant that would resemble his favorite place to eat. A place that was elegant, yet fun and relaxed that everyone could enjoy no matter their background.
- Keizo Shimamoto’s Ramen Shack offers bowls of long-simmered brothers and custom fresh noodles in a range of flavors and styles. Including tsukemen and negi ramen, paired with small-plate specials such as karaage. You won’t want to miss out on this!
Alex acknowledged that his favorite part of the day-to-day responsibilities is networking with new customers. By nature, Alex is a people person and appreciates new encounters, so come on down to the Mission Viejo Kia dealership and meet Alex!
